Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her highly laudable performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes which included her first Oscar for her film Piano. The path to acting began on Broadway with a variety of Broadway as well as Off Broadway projects. From the time she was a child, she has been passionate in the field of acting. She played Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school play. In the fifth grade, following a bout of mumps, she lost hearing in her left ear. She did not allow that to stop her. She studied drama at college before moving between Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her dream. She ran into Beth Henley in an elevator and they worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart the first movie Hunter made. When she moved to Los Angeles she tried to obtain film roles and was offered an acting role as a support for the role of a supporting character in Swing Shift. Since her time in Los Angeles, Holly Hunter has been involved in numerous television movies and series. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
